Before Endrick played for Palmeiras, his father cleaned the club’s dressing room. Douglas Ramos used to tell the first-team players that his son would be joining them one day. He was right.
That detail says most of what you need to know about the Endrick family. Nothing was handed to them. A father who never made it as a player, a mother who slept on a mattress on the floor, and a boy who made a promise at 10 and kept it at 15.
Much of this comes from Endrick himself. In March 2024 he wrote a long letter to his little brother in The Players’ Tribune, and it remains the best account of how he grew up.

Who Are Endrick’s Parents?
Endrick’s parents are Douglas and Cintia Ramos. They raised him in Vila Guaíra, a neighborhood of Valparaíso de Goiás on the edge of Brazil’s Federal District. Endrick has described the family home as a house on a hill above a favela.
Money was short. In his letter Endrick wrote that the family wasn’t born rich, but was born into football. He also says his childhood was a happy one.
He has been blunt about what his parents gave up. In a December 2023 interview with The Guardian, reported by Goal, Endrick said he never went hungry himself. His parents did. They skipped meals so that he could eat.
Douglas Ramos, his father
Douglas Ramos wanted to be a footballer long before his son did. As a teenager he hitch-hiked and walked from Brasília to São Paulo looking for a trial. According to Endrick, he missed one trial after oversleeping in a shelter. One rainy night he slept under the ticket booth at the Palmeiras stadium.
It didn’t work out. He went home and played amateur football, known in Brazil as várzea, sometimes for groceries or money toward a bill. Those games were where Endrick first watched the sport up close.
When Endrick showed talent, Douglas filmed him and posted the clips online so clubs could see them. Sky Sports’ profile of Endrick credits those videos with helping him land at Palmeiras.
Then came the cleaning job. Once Endrick was in the academy, Douglas moved to São Paulo and joined the stadium’s cleaning crew. He started by picking up litter. Later he cleaned the first-team dressing room, and he stayed in the job for about three years.
One story from those years stands out. Douglas had lost many of his teeth and could only eat soft food. Brazilian broadcaster Band reports that Palmeiras goalkeeper Jailson noticed, and organized a collection among the players to pay for his dental work.
Cintia Ramos, his mother
Cintia Ramos is the one who left home first. When Palmeiras took Endrick at 11, she moved to São Paulo with him while Douglas stayed behind to work and send money.
They lived in a house shared with other academy boys. Endrick writes that his mother slept on a thin mattress on the floor and kept her things on a chair. She knew nobody in the city, and she would read her Bible in a park for company.
The best-known moment in the letter is about bread. One day Cintia found two reais in her bag, which is well under a dollar. She bought bread that was two days old, and later told her son it tasted good because she was so hungry.
Endrick says she hid how hard it was. She cried in the bathroom and thought about going home more than once. She stayed.
He has since bought her a house.
Does Endrick Have Siblings?
Yes. Endrick has a younger brother, Noah, and older sisters.
Noah is the brother the Players’ Tribune letter is addressed to. He was four when it was published in 2024. Endrick was about 13 when Noah was born, and he remembers scoring on the day of the birth.
He had no money for a present. So he gave his baby brother the golden ball he won at that tournament.
The point of the letter is that Noah won’t have to carry what Endrick carried. He tells his brother the pressure is gone, and that he can grow up to be whatever he likes.
His sisters stay out of the public eye. Band names an older sister, Lavínia. Beyond that, the family has not shared details, and we have not gone looking for them.
What Was the Promise Endrick Made to His Father?
At the age of 10, Endrick told his father he would become a professional footballer and pull the family out of hardship. He says it happened on the couch at home after a bad day, and that it was the first time he saw his father cry.
A few weeks later he left for São Paulo.
His youth coach at Palmeiras, Paulo Victor Gomes, told Sky Sports that the boy stood out mentally as much as technically. That fits. Children don’t usually arrive at an academy with a debt they have set themselves.
Endrick signed his first professional contract at 15. The promise was kept inside five years.
Where Did Endrick Grow Up?
Endrick was born in Taguatinga, in the Federal District, and grew up nearby in Valparaíso de Goiás. This is the region around Brasília, the capital. It is not a traditional football hotbed like São Paulo or Rio.
That is why the move mattered so much. To be seen, he had to go about 1,000 kilometers south, and the family had to split up to make it happen.
In São Paulo they later moved into an apartment above a lottery shop, next to the Palmeiras stadium. Endrick has also said he moved his two grandmothers out of a neighborhood he considered dangerous once he could afford to.
How Did the Family Shape His Career?
The numbers at Palmeiras were hard to believe. Endrick scored 165 goals in 169 youth games over five years. He made his first-team debut on October 6, 2022, aged 16 years, two months and 16 days, the youngest player in the club’s history.
The son was now changing in the dressing room his father had cleaned.
Real Madrid announced a deal for him on December 15, 2022. Reports of the fee vary, with figures up to 60 million euros including add-ons. He couldn’t move until he turned 18, so he stayed and won two Brazilian league titles first.
In March 2024 he scored the winner for Brazil against England at Wembley. He was 17. Three days later he scored against Spain at the Bernabéu, his future home ground.
He joined a Madrid squad that already included Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Eduardo Camavinga. He scored on his league debut in August 2024, and became the club’s youngest Champions League scorer a month later.
Minutes were harder to come by after that. He finished 2024-25 with seven goals in 37 games.
What Has His Father Said About Real Madrid?
Douglas Ramos has not stayed quiet about his son’s lack of playing time. In April 2026 he spoke to ESPN Brasil, in remarks reported by Goal.
His view was that Madrid had deprived Endrick of the thing he loves most, which is playing. “They took away his playground,” he said.
He also explained how the loan to Lyon came about. It wasn’t rushed, he said, and the deciding voice was Endrick’s wife, Gabriely Miranda. The family’s priority was seeing him happy.
Where Is Endrick Playing Now?
Endrick is a Real Madrid player. He spent the second half of 2025-26 on loan at Lyon in France, where he scored eight goals in 21 games, including a hat-trick against Metz.
That form earned him a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. He made his tournament debut as a substitute against Haiti on June 19, 2026.
He returned to Madrid in the summer. Sports Illustrated reported in August 2026 that the club had decided to keep him for the 2026-27 season under new coach José Mourinho.
